অসাড় প্রোগ্রাম বন্ধ হয়ে যাবে একা একাই
কোন প্রোগ্রাম হ্যাং হয়ে গেলে আমরা সাধারণত কন্ট্রোল+অল্টার+ডিলিট চেপে টাস্ক ম্যানেজারে গিয়ে সেখান থেকে প্রোগ্রামটার টাস্ক এন্ড করে দেই। কিন্তু মাঝে মাঝে কিছুকিছু প্রোগ্রাম এমভাবে হ্যাং হয় যে তখন টাস্ক ম্যানেজারও আর কাজ করে না। অর্থাত্ সেই প্রোগ্রামটার সাথে সাথে উইন্ডোজও হ্যাং হয়ে যায়। তখন কম্পিউটার রিস্টার্ট করা ছাড়া আর কোন উপায় থাকে না। কিন্তু আপনি যদি আগে থেকেই এমন কোন ব্যবস্থা করে রাখেন যে, কোন প্রোগ্রাম হ্যাং হওয়ামাত্রই সেটা স্বয়ংক্রিয়ভাবে বন্ধ হয়ে যাবে, তাহলে উইন্ডোজ হ্যাং হওয়ার কোন সম্ভাবনা থাকবে না এবং আপনিও অনাকাঙ্খিত রিস্টার্ট থেকে মুক্ত হতে পারবেন।
রেজিস্ট্রি এডিটর থেকে খুব সহজেই আপনি এই কাজটা করতে পারেন। এরজন্য প্রথমে Start > Run এ গিয়ে REGEDIT টাইপ করে এন্টার দিয়ে রেজিস্ট্রি এডিটর ওপেন করুন। এরপর রেজিস্ট্রি এডিটর থেকে HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop ওপেন করুন। এখানে ডান পার্শ্বস্থ প্যানেল থেকে AutoEndTasks স্ট্রিংটি ওপেন করে এর ডিফল্ট ভ্যালু 0 কে পরিবর্তন করে 1 লিখে দিন। এবার এডিটর বন্ধ করে কম্পিউটার রিস্টার্ট করুন।
রিস্টার্ট হওয়ার পর অ্যাডবি ফটোশপ জাতীয় দশ-বারোটা ভয়ঙ্কর ভয়ঙ্কর প্রোগ্রাম এক সাথে চালু করে কী-বোর্ড মাউজ সব একসাথে উল্টাপাল্টা টেপাটেপি করতে থাকুন। এর ফলে একটা না হয় একটা প্রোগ্রামতো হ্যাং হবেই। কিন্তু কোন প্রোগ্রামটা হ্যাং হল সেটা বুঝার আগেই দেখবেন প্রোগ্রামটা একা একাই বন্ধ হয়ে গেছে।

সহজেই গুগল সার্চের সবগুলো সুবিধা ব্যবহার করা
জনপ্রিয় সার্চ ইঞ্জিন গুগলে বিভিন্ন ধরনের সার্চ করা যায়। সার্চে এসব সুবিধা পেতে হয় এ্যাডভান্স সার্চে গিয়ে। কিন্তু ফায়ারফক্স ব্যবহারকারীরা গুগল ফিচার সার্চ এ্যাড-অন্স দ্বারা। এজন্য https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/14394 থেকে এ্যাড-অন্সটি ইনস্টল করে ফায়ারফক্স রিস্টার্ট করুন। এখন দেখবেন নতুন একটি টুলবার এসেছে। এখানে Search ড্রপডাউনে ক্লিক করে যে বিষয়ে সার্চ করতে চান নির্বাচন করে ডানের টেক্সট বক্সে যা সার্চ করবেন তা লিখে Go বাটনে ক্লিক করলেই হবে। ফলে গুগল সার্চের সর্বোচ্চ সুবিধা পেতে পারবেন সহজেই।
ফায়ারফক্সে ডাউনলোড শেষে কম্পিউটার বন্ধ হবে
জনপ্রিয় ওপেনসোর্স ওয়েব ব্রাউজার মজিলা ফায়ারফক্সে ডাউনলোড শেষে যদি সয়ংক্রিয়ভাবে কম্পিউটার বন্ধ হতো তাহলে অনেকেই রাতে বা প্রয়োজনীয় সময়ে বড় বড় ফাইল ডাউনলোড শুরু করে অন্যত্র যেতে পারতো নিশ্চিন্তে। অটো শার্টডাউন এ্যাড-অন্স দ্বারা এই সুবিধা পাওয়া যাবে। এ্যাড-অন্সটি https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/5452 থেকে ইনস্টল করে ফায়ারফক্স রিস্টার্ট করে নিন। এবার স্ট্যাটাসবারে দেখুন অটো শার্টডাউন আইকন এসেছে। আইকনে উপরে ক্লিক করলে অটো শার্টডাউন সক্রিয় হবে, তাহলে চলতে থাকা ডাউনলোডগুলো শেষ হলে ম্যাসেজ আসবে এবং নির্দিষ্ট সময় পরে কম্পিউটার বন্ধ হয়ে যাবে। কোন অপশনসের পরিবর্তন আনতে চাইলে উক্ত আইকনে মাউসের ডান বাটন ক্লিক করে Options বা টুলস>এ্যাড-অন্স থেকে এ্যাড-অন্স এর Options গিয়ে করতে পারবেন।
মুক্ত এবং ফ্রি হবার কারণে ওয়েব ব্রাউজার মজিলা ফায়ারফক্স এখন বেশ জনপ্রিয়। আরো জনপ্রিয় করতে মজিলা সমপ্রতি আটটি ভাষাতে বেটা সংস্করণ (৩.০.৩) অবমুক্ত করেছে। এই আটটি ভাষার মধ্যে ভারতীয় কয়েকটি ভাষা রয়েছে। আর এর মধ্যে আমাদের মাতৃভাষা বাংলা সংস্করণও আছে। এর ফলে এখন থেকে আমরা বাংলা ভাষার ইন্টারফেসের ফায়ারফক্স ব্যবহার করতে পারবো। ফায়ারফক্সের যেকোন ভাষার সর্বশেষ সংস্করণ www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html#languages থেকে ডাউনলোড করা যাবে। বাংলা ভাষার এই ফায়ারফক্সটি উইন্ডোজসহ অনান্য অপারেটিং সিস্টেম লিনাক্স এবং ম্যাকের জন্য আলাদা আলাদা সংস্করণ ডাউনলোড করা যাবে। সকল ইন্টারফেস বাংলাতে হলেও ইংরেজী ইন্টারফেসের সকল হট কী এবং শটকাট কী ঠিক রাখা হয়েছে। বাংলা ইন্টারফেসের ফায়ারফক্স ব্যবহার করতে হলে আপনার কম্পিউটার (অপারেটিং সিস্টেম) অবশ্যই বাংলা (ইউনিকোড) সমর্থিত হতে হবে।
অডিও ক্যাসেটের গান mp3 তে রুপান্তর করা
আমার সংগ্রহে অনেক অডিও ক্যাসেট আছে এক সময় এসব ক্যাসেট নিয়মিত শুনতাম। এখন ক্যাসেট প্লেয়ারের জায়গা দখল করে নিয়েছে সিডি/এমপি৩ প্লেয়ার। তাই ক্যাসেটগুলো আর শোনা হয় না। কিন্তু মাঝে মাঝে কিছু গান খুব মিস করি কারন গানগুলোর কোন সিডি বের হয়নি অডিও ক্যাসেটেই শুধু ছিল। ফলে আর শুনতে ও পারিনা। আমার মনে হয় অনেকের ক্ষেত্রেই এই ব্যাপারটা প্রযোয্য। আসুন আফসোস না করে দেখি কিভাবে গানগুলোকে ডিজিটাল ফরম্যাটে যেমন এমপি৩ তে রুপান্তর করা যায়।
আপনার যা প্রয়োজন হবে:
১. একটি ক্যাসেট প্লেয়ার অথবা ওয়াকম্যান
২. একটি স্টেরিও প্যাচ কর্ড(যা সাধারনত কম্পিউটার থেকে সাব ওফারের সংযোগ দেওয়ার জন্য ব্যবহার করা হয়)। আপনি খুব সহজেই এটি বানিয়ে নিতে পারেন। বাজার থেকে দুটো স্টেরিও জ্যাক কিনে তিন পেয়ারের একটা ক্যাবলের(মাউসের ক্যাবল হলেও চলবে) দুই প্রান্তে সংযোগ করুন। খেয়াল রাখবেন তারের এক প্রান্ত একটা জ্যাকের যে পিনে লাগিয়েছেন অপর প্রান্ত অপর জ্যাকের সেই পিনেই লাগাবেন। ব্যাস হয়ে গেল স্টেরিও প্যাচ কর্ড।
৩. Audacity ও LAME MP3 encoder অথবা যেকোন অডিও রেকর্ডিং সফটওয়্যার। আমি অডাসিটি দিয়েই দেখাব।

যেভাবে করবেন:
অডাসিটি ইনস্টল করুন। lame-xxx.zip ফাইল থেকে lame_enc.dll ফাইলটি C:\Program Files\Audacity\Plug-Ins লোকেশনে দিন। অডাসিটি রান করুন। Edit–>Preferences ক্লিক করুন। Audio I/O ট্যাবে Channels: 2(Stereo) সিলেক্ট করুন। File Formats ট্যাবে Find Library বাটনে ক্লিক করে ইয়েস দিন। C:\Program Files\Audacity\Plug-Ins গিয়ে lame_enc.dll ফাইলটি সিলেক্ট করে ওপেন ক্লিক করুন। ওকে দিন। এবার স্টেরিও প্যাচ কর্ডটির একপ্রান্ত ক্যাসেট প্লেয়ারের হেডফোন জ্যাকে প্রবেশ করান এবং অপর প্রান্তটি সাউন্ড কার্ডের লাইন ইন জ্যাকে প্রবেশ করান। ক্যাসেট প্লেয়ারে যেকোন একটা ক্যাসেট প্লে করুন। আপনার পিসির স্পীকারে গান শোনা যাবে। অডাসিটির মিক্সার টুলবারে লাইন ইন সিলেক্ট করুন।
ইনপুট লেভেল মিটারে সিলেক্ট করুন Monitor Input।
ভলিউম লেভেল দেখা যাবে। ইনপুট ভলিউম এমনভাবে এডজাষ্ট করুন যাতে লেভেল সব সময় হাই হয়ে না থাকে। এবার রেকর্ড বাটন প্রেস করে রেকর্ড শুরু করুন সামান্য রেকর্ড হওয়ার পর স্টপ বাটন প্রেস করে রেকর্ডিং বন্ধ হবে। প্লে করে দেখুন গান বেশি ফাটা ফাটা মনে হলে লেভেল আরো একটু কমান আর সাউন্ড কম মনে হলে লেভেল আরো একটু বাড়ান আবার রেকর্ড করে দেখুন। সাউন্ড লেভেল আপনার মনের হলে ক্যাসেট প্লেয়ারে গানটি প্রথম থেকে প্লে করুন এবং রেকর্ড বাটনে প্রেস করুন গান শেষ হলে স্টপ বাটন প্রেস করুন। File–> Export As MP3 তে ক্লিক করে গানটি সেভ করুন।
